Blog Entry #3 Hey, It Could Happen.

   The earth has always moved the same thousand miles per hour. The sun rises on the east and sets on the west, with no variation or change. However, technology appears to be moving faster than the the earth with no sign of slowing. The world as we know it is changing as I've recently been told we are in the beginning stages of a technological revolution. In every great revolution there are leaders. Americans are showing no signs of becoming an emerging leader in this industry. We aren't the contributors we are the consumers.

   Simultaneously there is a widening academic gap between the rich and the poor. The gaps are steadily growing in what is now a technological revolution. A revolution means new thoughts and ideas and  logic and reasoning must take place. But is that likely in a country that is underachieving? So what is the 99% of us poor underachievers doing? We are consuming and we are consumed. We want instant gratification. And since we are so easily distracted by technology and have a difficulty thinking for ourselves then is it a far fetched idea for those with money and power to use technology to help us "think better"?

   At what point do the haves distancing themselves from the have-nots change. That they realize that we the have-nots could hold greater value to them. Controlled guinea pigs.

   If all it will take for us to turn to a complete state of ignorant bliss all we have to do is be constantly and consistently be spoon fed images. Mostly unattainable images and ideas of beauty, money, fame and of course our favorite, food. 

   That these haves can run the world effortlessly and without complaint as long as we are spoon fed our daily technological fix.

   This dystopia, imgained state doesn't seem so far fetch. How can we expect to have a progressive country filled with leaders and innovators if we aren't raising any. If China and India are the emerging world powers, how come we aren't learning their languages as they have learnt ours. 

   If this technological revolution is just at its beginning then so is our obsession; as technology grows as will our obsession. 

   Where will interpersonal relationships go if at the beginning of this revolution we are now comfortable sitting in open spaces not acknowledging each other. Our technologies then will feel comfortable enough not to speak. To never interact. To enjoy all of lifes pleasure individually and through a screen and complete disassociated with the world around us. And thats what "they" want.
